Misinformation

The media, the government, the internet, hell even our peers are full of misinformation. With so many creative minds writing with subjective views its no wonder research tends to get distorted through the grape vine.  It's healthy to have a opinion or beliefs in certain values, we all do..

I understand that many authors intend to convey a positive message however, doing so through blatant lies and is never respectable. This tends to be the burden that clings to the cannabis culture; hindered by years of  government propaganda, many hold strong to facts that simply are not true and have been PROVEN wrong through credible research.

Now lets visit the "No On Amendment 64" website.

The very first sentence is wrong. Marijuana becomes habitual not addictive. Moving on, the most effective way of ensuring restricted sales to adults is to introduce sales from licensed employees, not drug dealers. Yes we agree young children should not be consuming marijuana, now we need to look at the logical ways of controlling this.

Finally we arrive at the cute little statistic; 67% of adolescents attending substance abuse programs in the United States are there due to marijuana abuse. Can you sway a fucking statistic any more? Maybe leave a little more information out? One would think that informing the reader about the treatment process might help shed light on this particularly high number. In many instances a choice is given to the detainee: substance abuse programs or jail. Tough decision, I cannot think of too many that would choose hard time over freedom but hey, now those numbers seems plausible. Check out "The Union" as Joe Rogan speaks a little bit about this.

Back to the adolescence. I thought the other mythical statement covered the youth situation but i guess not. "The more available a drug is, the more likely young people are to use the drug. Yes you are correct, so why don't we make marijuana less available to the youth. As stated before, the only way to do this is have regulations on those making sales. Drug dealers are not checking I.D. If you think that the illegality of cannabis makes it less available to the children (opposed to placing it behind counters) you need a reality check.  As for the statistics provided, yes youth consumption is higher than ever. Why? The current system DOES NOT work. I am not to sure how much clearer it can get?

This particular piece drives me up the wall. Do you see how the first sentence states the statistics of automobile crashes involving drivers on "drugs"? Not marijuana... Drugs... Weird, I thought this was an article on marijuana, I am not to sure how all the other drugs got into the conversation. Must not have been a hi enough statistic of drivers with only marijuana in their system...

Now you see how a subjective opinion can be manipulated into an assortment of misinformation. It is extremely unfortunate but what can you do. Keep up the good work in providing the public with accurate  cannabis information. Its come to the point where the public knows everything we consume has the potential to be harmful if over used or used irresponsibly. The positives of marijuana finding a place in society  far exceed the negatives and it is time we put an end to the lies and myths.

At the end of the day all I ask is that you use critical thinking when you come across new information. The truth is hard to find!
